State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: It is the legitimate right of Taiwan compatriots to apply for mainland-related identity documents.
On November 12th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked about the ongoing actions of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in dealing with individuals who are registered or have obtained Mainland Chinese passports and identification cards. According to the Taiwan authorities' statistics, as of the end of October, about 50 people have been reported to have had their household registration in Taiwan canceled. What is your comment on this? Spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that it is the legitimate right of Taiwan compatriots to apply for relevant Mainland Chinese identification documents, and the relevant application and document information are legally protected. The actions of the DPP authorities are further evidence of depriving Taiwan compatriots of their legitimate rights and creating a "green terror", and will definitely be met with strong opposition and resolute resistance from the Taiwanese people.
