The National Metrology Work Symposium is held in Hunan.

On November 11, 2025, the National Metrology Work Symposium was held in Hengyang, Hunan Province. Vice Governor of Hunan Provincial Government, Wang Junshou, attended the meeting and delivered a speech; Deputy Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Bai Qingyuan, attended the meeting and gave a speech; Wu Wenqing, Chief Planner of the Ministry of Water Resources, and Wang Zhensheng, member of the Party Group and Deputy General Manager of the National Pipe Network Group, attended the meeting and spoke. The meeting emphasized that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's development environment is facing profound and complex changes. The metrology work is not only facing major development opportunities, but also will face more severe challenges. The national metrology work should be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the subsequent plenary sessions, with the fundamental goal of meeting the growing needs of the people for a better life, coordinate development and security, comprehensively implement the "Outline of the Construction of a Quality Strong Country" and the "Metrology Development Plan," closely focus on the overall work train of "emphasizing politics, strengthening regulation, promoting development, and ensuring security," focus on the key points of "one large market, two strong countries, three regulations, and four security," implement scientific metrology, industrial metrology, and people's livelihood metrology, and lay a solid foundation for the basic realization of socialist modernization through metrology. The meeting comprehensively summarized the achievements and problems of metrology work since the "14th Five-Year Plan," deeply analyzed the new situation and new requirements facing metrology work, scientifically planned the national metrology work during the "15th Five-Year Plan," and systematically deployed and made clear requirements for the next step of work. Representatives from the China Institute of Metrology and the market supervision departments of Hunan, Guangdong, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, and other provinces exchanged experiences. Representatives at the meeting learned about the construction of the Hengyang Intelligent Weighing Meter Metrology Industrial Park, the development of metrology instruments and equipment, observed the exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Metrology Law, and conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of "scientific planning, comprehensive efforts, and laying a solid foundation for the basic realization of socialist modernization through metrology." Relevant departments of the State Council, related central enterprises, market supervision departments of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as representatives from the China Institute of Metrology, China Academy of Testing Technology, China Metrology and Testing Society, China Metrology Association, and China Metrology University and other related units attended the meeting.
