A store fire in Mexico has killed at least 23 people.
According to Mexican media reports on November 1st, a fire broke out in a chain department store in the city of Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora state in northern Mexico, resulting in at least 23 fatalities. Witnesses quoted in the report said the fire quickly spread throughout the entire building and nearby vehicles, trapping many people inside the store. Rescue workers rushed to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations and transport the injured to receive medical treatment. The report stated that the Sonora state security department has ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a transformer malfunction. The accident investigation is still ongoing.
