According to the Ecuadorian police, on November 1st, a total of 12 inmates died in prison over the course of two days from October 31st to November 1st. The specific reasons for their deaths are still under investigation. According to the police report, 9 inmates died in prisons in Guayaquil, 1 in Cuenca, and 2 in Esmeraldas. The National Police are verifying more evidence to determine the cause of death and are working to maintain order in the prisons.
