The 14th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) has concluded. Wang Huning presided over the meeting and gave a speech.

The 14th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) closed in Beijing on the afternoon of the 1st. Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the closing meeting and delivered a speech. He stated that studying and implementing the spirit of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee is a major political task for the whole party and the whole country at present and in the future. The CPPCC National Committee should deeply study and implement the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the plenary session and the spirit of the plenary session, profoundly understand the decisive significance of "two confirmations," enhance the "four consciousnesses," consolidate the "four confidences," and uphold the "two safeguards," so as to unite people, consensus, wisdom and strength for the formulation and implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan," and promote the cohesion of the Chinese-style modernization. Efforts should be continuously made in comprehensive study, comprehensive understanding, and comprehensive implementation, fully and accurately grasp the significant importance of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the major achievements in China's development during the "14th Five-Year" period, the situation and environment for China's development during the "15th Five-Year" period, the guiding principles and main objectives for economic and social development during the "15th Five-Year" period, the strategic tasks and major measures for economic and social development during the "15th Five-Year" period, and the need to adhere to the Party's comprehensive leadership in promoting economic and social development, ensuring thoughts and actions are unified with the spirit of the plenary session. Wang Huning stated that it is necessary to fully embody and implement the spirit of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee in the work of the CPPCC. We must strengthen the study, publicity, research and interpretation of the spirit of the plenary session, guide CPPCC members and the masses of all sectors to firmly believe in development and gather a wide range of positive energy for unity and progress. The meeting passed the decision on holding activities to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Sun Yat-sen. The meeting voted to relieve comrade Zhang Junkuo of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Proposal Committee, comrade Yi Gang of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee, comrade Zhang Taolin of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Committee, comrades Zhang Jie and Cao Weixing of their duties as Vice Chairman of the Education, Science and Health Committee, comrade Chen Guoqing of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Social and Legal Committee, and comrades Wang Rong and Chen Yuanfeng of their duties as Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Committee. Comrade Sui Jun was relieved of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. The meeting passed the decision to relieve comrade Fu Xingguo of his duties as Vice Chairman of the Culture, History and Learning Committee of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC and accept his resignation as a member. The meeting ratified the decision to relieve comrade Yi Huimin of his duties as Resident Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC and revoke his membership.
