Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) released several updates at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), including a major redesign of Siri and upgrades to AI capabilities across all operating systems, sparking positive reactions from analysts. Morgan Stanley maintained an "overweight" rating and raised its price target from $330 to $360. Analysts led by Erik Woodring commented, "WWDC 2026 clearly demonstrated the progress of Apple Inc.'s AI roadmap, suggesting that monetization opportunities may arrive sooner than expected. However, it also indicated that improvements to Apple Intelligence will be more of a marathon than a sprint. With less backward compatibility and clearer use cases, we believe that this WWDC overall is positive." JP Morgan maintained an "overweight" rating on the iPhone maker. Analysts led by Samik Chatterjee stated that Apple Inc.'s WWDC 2026 keynote marked Tim Cook's final appearance as CEO and met market expectations for broader AI capabilities, including the highly anticipated, completely revamped Siri, expected to launch to US consumers in the fall of 2026. The core of this conference was significant updates to Siri and Apple Intelligence, including a complete restructuring of the Siri architecture, now supported by the next-generation Apple Inc. base model developed in collaboration with Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) Gemini. Chatterjee and his team stated, "While the capabilities of the Apple Inc. base model embedded in Siri AI are in line with expectations, we believe differentiation will come from integration with a large number of native (and third-party) applications and system operations, transforming personal contexts into application operations. The releases also revealed a potential monetization path: feature-based functions (such as image generation) with daily usage limits, where higher limits for premium users will be integrated into most iCloud+ plans, potentially driving further adoption of iCloud and providing additional momentum for service business growth." Wedbush maintained an "outperform" rating on Apple Inc. stock and a $400 price target. Analysts led by Dan Ives stated, "Overall, this was an impressive conference that did not disappoint. Cook and Apple Inc. finally unveiled their AI strategy, which will unleash the true monetization potential of AI within the Cupertino consumer ecosystem. After years of promises, it has finally arrived." Analysts pointed out that in terms of AI, Apple Inc. is focused on deeply integrating AI into everyday products and emphasizing privacy at every step. The company introduced a user-centric architecture, powered by the base model, while leveraging Gemini, which runs on-device and on private cloud computing, ensuring that data is not stored and only executed when requested by the user. Analysts believe that AI monetization and services will ultimately add $75 to $100 of value to Apple Inc.'s stock price, which is not yet reflected in the current market multiples. The WWDC was a good step in the right direction as the company seeks to fill the gaps in its AI strategy. Ives and his team stated, "As this is Cook's last WWDC and a moment of handing over to Thrun, we believe Apple Inc. is heading in the right direction, leaving Thrun a solid AI foundation to build on. Now that Apple Inc.'s AI foundation has been unveiled, we anticipate a whole new, imaginative hardware/iPhone product line in the coming years." Meanwhile, Jefferies maintained a "neutral" rating on Apple Inc. Analysts led by Edison Lee commented, "As expected, Apple Inc.'s new AI features are still incremental. The focus is on AI integration into all traditional functions and cross-device integration, emphasizing on-device computing (privacy), and making Siri smarter by reading as much on-device data as possible. However, the inability to access popular third-party app data (rather than model capabilities) is a significant limitation to its AI intelligence. Considering the huge demand from ultra-scale vendors, we believe the supply chain is also a major new challenge." As of the time of writing, Apple Inc.'s stock price has fallen by 1.2%.
