On July 17, the latest figures released by the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) cases showed that in June, a total of 195,196 cases received CSSA, a decrease of 240 cases compared to May, with a month-on-month decrease of 0.1%. The total number of beneficiaries was 261,440.
In terms of case categories, the month-on-month decrease in the low-income category was 1.4%, with 1,312 cases. The permanent disability category decreased by 0.4%, with 16,534 cases. Cases in the poor health and single parent categories both decreased by 0.2%, with 27,723 and 18,842 cases respectively. The elderly category decreased by 0.1%, with 110,691 cases.
The unemployment category remained stable, with 16,150 cases.
