SoftBank Group is seeking to issue more than $11 billion in bonds, which would become one of the largest junk bond deals in history. People familiar with the matter said on Monday that the conglomerate led by Masayoshi Son is ramping up its investment in OpenAI. The people said SoftBank plans to issue $10 billion in dollar-denominated bonds across three tranches, as well as 1 billion (about $1.1 billion) in euro-denominated bonds across two tranches. The funds will be partly used to finance a follow-on investment in OpenAI expected to be completed next month.
