International Maritime Organization condemns the attack in the Strait of Hormuz and calls on all parties to exercise restraint to ensure the safety of seafarers.

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez, issued a statement on Wednesday, stating that several merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz recently experienced "reckless attacks," putting innocent sailors in grave danger once again. He urged flag states, shipowners, and operators to avoid the strait if the safety of crew members cannot be effectively guaranteed, so as to prevent sailors from being exposed to unnecessary risks. Dominguez also revealed that geopolitical conflicts have led to a severe crisis in the shipping lanes of the Persian Gulf, with nearly 6,000 sailors still stranded on ships in the area. The continued attacks have further exacerbated the fear, uncertainty, and psychological stress faced by the stranded crew members. He strongly urged all parties involved in the conflicts to immediately de-escalate the situation, allowing the ships stranded in the Gulf since the crisis began to safely depart.
