STANCHART (02888) rose over 2%, up 1.87% as of press time, at HK$228.6, with turnover of HK$192 million. On the news front, Goldman Sachs issued a research report stating that STANCHART will announce its Q3 2026 results on October 28. It expects StanChart's Q3 net profit (after deducting AT1) to be US$1.29 billion, 3% above market expectations; revenue of approximately US$5.7 billion, 2% above market expectations, benefiting from sustained strong fee income and a modest recovery in net interest income. The bank raised its medium-term net interest income forecast for StanChart by about 2%, expecting 2026 net interest income of approximately US$11.6 billion, up 4% year-on-year, higher than the guidance of roughly flat (after factoring in a drag of about 2% from Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) portfolio actions). In addition, Goldman Sachs raised its 2026-28 earnings per share forecasts for StanChart by 1% to 2%, due to upward revisions to medium-term net interest income and fee income assumptions, partially offset by higher operating expense assumptions; credit cost forecasts remain unchanged. Goldman Sachs expects StanChart's 2026 statutory return on tangible equity (ROTE) to be 14.3% (guidance is above 12%), and 16.5% in 2028 (target is above 15%).
