National Bureau of Statistics: CPI in June increased by 1.0% year-on-year and decreased by 0.3% month-on-month.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in June 2026, the national consumer price index rose by 1.0% year-on-year. Among them, urban areas increased by 1.0%, rural areas increased by 0.8%; food prices fell by 1.6%, non-food prices rose by 1.5%; consumer goods prices rose by 1.1%, and service prices rose by 0.8%. From January to June, the national consumer price index increased by 1.0% compared to the same period last year. In June, the national consumer price index decreased by 0.3% month-on-month. Among them, urban areas decreased by 0.4%, rural areas decreased by 0.3%; food prices decreased by 0.4%, non-food prices decreased by 0.3%; consumer goods prices decreased by 0.6%, and service prices remained stable. Changes in prices of various goods and services on a year-on-year basis In June, the prices of food, tobacco, alcohol, and dining out decreased by 0.8% year-on-year, affecting the consumer price index (CPI) to decrease by about 0.24 percentage points. Among food items, prices of livestock meat decreased by 7.3%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.30 percentage points, with pork prices dropping by 15.9%; dairy prices decreased by 1.7%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.02 percentage points; fresh fruit prices decreased by 0.7%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.01 percentage points; egg prices increased by 16.0%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.08 percentage points. The other seven categories saw six increases and one decrease year-on-year. Prices of other goods and services, transportation and communication, and healthcare increased by 6.6%, 4.1%, and 2.3% respectively, while prices of clothing, education and cultural entertainment increased by 1.4% each, and household goods and services prices increased by 1.3%; housing prices decreased by 0.3%. II. Changes in prices of various goods and services on a month-on-month basis In June, the prices of food, tobacco, alcohol, and dining out decreased by 0.3% month-on-month, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.08 percentage points. Among food items, fresh fruit prices decreased by 2.0%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.04 percentage points; fresh vegetable prices decreased by 1.0%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.02 percentage points; prices of livestock meat decreased by 0.5%, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.02 percentage points, with pork prices dropping by 0.8%; egg prices increased by 5.8%, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.03 percentage points. The other seven categories saw one increase, two stagnations, and four decreases month-on-month. Healthcare prices increased by 0.2%; housing and education and cultural entertainment prices remained unchanged; prices of other goods and services and transportation and communication decreased by 2.7% and 1.3% respectively, while household goods and services and clothing prices decreased by 0.2% and 0.1% respectively.
