The American AI chatbot market is undergoing a new round of reshuffling.
The US AI chat Siasun Robot & Automation market is undergoing a new round of reshuffling. According to the latest data report released by mobile app analytics firm Apptopia, SpaceX's Grok mobile app market share in the US market continues to shrink, while Meta's AI has risen to fourth place for the first time. At the same time, a significant user behavior trend has emerged: in the second quarter of 2026, 86% of US users only use one AI chat Siasun Robot & Automation app, showing a significant increase in user loyalty. Grok's popularity is cooling down, with a large number of light users being lost. Data shows that Grok's daily active users in the US have declined by 28.2% since April this year, and its market share has further dropped from 10.6% in May to 8.7% in June, ranking fifth. Apptopia mobile data analyst Adam Black pointed out that although the total number of users is decreasing, the proportion of "high-frequency users" among Grok users has actually increased to 57%, ranking second among mainstream generative AI chat Siasun Robot & Automation apps. This indicates that the main loss is of light or novelty-seeking users, leaving behind core users with relatively high stickiness. However, what worries Grok is that the proportion of users in its user base using competitors Claude and ChatGPT is on the rise, meaning that some users, even if they have not completely abandoned Grok, are turning to other tools in more scenarios. Rankings change: Meta AI quietly rises, ChatGPT shares stabilize Looking at the June US market share rankings, OpenAI's ChatGPT still ranks first, Alphabet Inc. Class C's Gemini ranks second, and Anthropic's Claude ranks third. Of note, Meta AI has entered the fourth position due to its continuous growth, and Apptopia has included it in the ranking for the first time in this report. Microsoft Corporation's Copilot, Perplexity, and DeepSeek rank sixth to eighth, with market shares all at low single-digit levels. ChatGPT halted its market share decline in June after 11 months, achieving a slight rebound. However, this did not stem from user growth, as its daily active users in the US still decreased by 1.7% month-on-month. Looking globally, the overall generative AI chat Siasun Robot & Automation market is still expanding, but the growth rate has been slowing for the fifth consecutive month and is likely to continue for the sixth month. User loyalty becomes mainstream Apptopia pointed out that after studying actual active users (not just those who download or try an app once or twice), 86% of Americans in the second quarter rely on only one chat Siasun Robot & Automation app, 11% use two, and only 3% use three or more. Black believes that this is logical, as "currently, most large language models have very similar capabilities. Once a product becomes better or introduces new features, competitors can quickly catch up. Most people do not need to use a specific chat Siasun Robot & Automation for different tasks." The report also specifically analyzed the impact of users downloading new apps on existing apps. In most cases, users who try and continue to use a new app actually end up spending more time on their original chat Siasun Robot & Automation app. The only exception is ChatGPT users: when they download Claude, the average usage time of ChatGPT decreases by 13.5%. In the following 30 days, ChatGPT users spend an average of about 24.9 minutes using the app, while Claude users spend 26.1 minutes. Black analyzed that this may indicate that some users are turning to Claude for more intense and complex projects, as Claude's usage shows greater variability in time spent.
